Soundscape of Charles Bukowski

Bhaknisha Kongruangkit

Video installation, 10 minutes

Soundscape of Charles Bukowski seeks to communicate with the audience through sound. It allows viewers to experience Charles Bukowski’s poetry through hearing and some visuals.

Poetry exposes you to a part of the world you haven't witnessed; sounds make poetry become more effective and heightens emotional experience. Bukowski‘s poetry is extremely raw and brutally honest. His poetry forces us to think. Bukowski relied on experience, emotion, and imagination in his work, using direct language and violent and sexual imagery. People will understand and experience the feelings of his poetry through sound. The meanings derived from the work comes not just from the installation but also from the viewers’ personal experience
